Giants' Abdul Carter Criticizes Jaxson Dart for Trump Rally Support

New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter has publicly addressed his concerns regarding teammate Jaxson Dart, who introduced President Donald Trump at a rally last week. Carter emphasized that some issues transcend football, stating, "Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things." Carter pointed out Dart's significant role as a leader and representative of the franchise, saying, "He not only represents himself... but he represents all of us and that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform." He expressed his responsibility to voice his disapproval of Dart's alignment with Trump, reinforcing his personal beliefs and values. Carter initially took to social media to share his discontent after verifying the authenticity of a video showing Dart with Trump. However, following a conversation with Dart, he clarified that there were no hard feelings between them. "That doesn’t mean that we have to spread hate... As long as we make sure we’ve got the same goal as a team... then I feel like that’s all that matters." Dart responded with a pre-prepared statement, confirming discussions with teammates while refraining from mentioning Trump directly, but expressing respect for the presidential office. Giants' coach John Harbaugh expressed optimism that the team would grow stronger from this experience. As the NFL season approaches, the Giants will play their first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on 15 August, with additional matchups against the Miami Dolphins and the New York Mets before the regular season kicks off. The Giants' first game of the 2026 season is scheduled for 13 September against the Dallas Cowboys.
