Calais Campbell Returns to Ravens for 19th NFL Season, Eyes Historic Milestone

Calais Campbell is set to make a remarkable return as he signs a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens for his 19th NFL season, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones. Approaching his 40th birthday on September 1, Campbell aims to become just the third defensive lineman in NFL history to play into his 40s, joining legends Bruce Smith and Jim Marshall. Having spent the earlier parts of his career with the Arizona Cardinals and Jacksonville Jaguars, Campbell's recent tenure includes two seasons with the Ravens from 2020-2022 and a stint with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. Notably, he recorded 6.5 sacks last season with the Cardinals, tying his best output in the last seven years. His performance earned him the 23rd spot in Pro Football Focus's rankings for interior defensive linemen. Campbell's leadership has been recognized, earning him the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2019 and the Alan Page Community Award in 2023. With 117 career sacks, he ranks 25th all-time and is fourth among active players, showcasing his ability to disrupt plays by knocking down passes—recording 65 passes defended since 1999. As the Ravens look to bolster their defensive line, Campbell will join forces with Travis Jones and John Jenkins, while the status of standout Nnamdi Madubuike remains uncertain due to a neck injury. The Ravens aim to improve their pass-rushing capabilities after finishing the 2025 season with the second-worst sack rate in the NFL. Campbell’s experience and skill set are expected to play a crucial role in revitalizing the Ravens' defense.
