Tragic Loss: Former NFL Star Josh Mauro Passes Away at 35

Former Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants defensive end Josh Mauro has tragically passed away at the age of 35. The news was confirmed by his father, Greg Mauro, in a heartfelt Facebook post, expressing the family's sorrow and faith in his peaceful transition. "With many tears and broken hearts, yet anchored in the unshakable certainty that our precious Josh Mauro is now healed and made new... we humbly covet your prayers as our family walks through the devastating loss of our amazing son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend," Greg Mauro wrote. Mauro took his last breath on Thursday, April 23rd, marking a profound loss for those who knew him. Both the Cardinals and the Raiders honored his memory, with the Cardinals stating, "We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Josh Mauro. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew him. We extend our deepest condolences to everyone grieving this loss." Former Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson remembered Mauro for his exceptional work ethic, stating, "Always in shape, always was ready to go wherever he got that call. One of the things I respected most about him. You could depend on him." Born in England, Mauro moved to the US as a child. He had a standout high school career in Texas and went on to play college football at Stanford, majoring in management science and engineering. Despite going undrafted, Mauro enjoyed an eight-year NFL career, amassing 150 tackles and five sacks over 80 games. In 2017, Mauro reflected on his love for the game, stating, "Every Sunday when I take the field I appreciate it. I am grateful, and I embrace it. This game has been wonderful to me." He hailed from an athletic family, with three of his brothers also playing college football.
