Nat Sciver-Brunt's Recovery on Track as England Eyes T20 World Cup

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is optimistic about her recovery from a calf injury, stating it is "going to plan." The 33-year-old all-rounder has missed recent matches, including the 50-over and T20 series against New Zealand, and will also be absent during the upcoming T20s against India starting Thursday. Despite her absence, Sciver-Brunt has been active in the nets, focusing on batting, and has been cleared to run for the first time since her injury. England is set to face Sri Lanka in the opening match of the T20 World Cup at Edgbaston on 12 June. Sciver-Brunt expressed her frustration about watching from the sidelines, saying: "It's been really frustrating watching from the sidelines and not being able to help and feel like I'm missing out a little bit." Her presence is vital for England as they approach the home World Cup, given her skills, leadership, and balance as an all-rounder. The team remains cautious, emphasizing they are not worried about her recovery and still aim for her to participate fully in the tournament. The injury, described as a "minor tear," occurred while playing for Blaze on 29 April. Initially, she was only set to miss the one-day internationals against New Zealand, but a subsequent scan on 18 May extended her recovery period, ruling her out of the T20s against both the White Ferns and India. Following the conclusion of the series against India on Tuesday, England will have warm-up matches against Australia and India on 8 and 10 June, respectively. Sciver-Brunt concluded: "All of the plans that we've been putting together to get me back on track is ending with that first game in mind."
