Scott Sio Aims for Playoff Glory as Exeter Chiefs Bid for Fairytale Finish

Scott Sio is looking for a "fairytale finish" to his time with the Exeter Chiefs as they strive for a place in the Premiership play-offs. The 34-year-old prop, who joined Exeter from the Brumbies in late 2022, will depart for Cardiff in the United Rugby Championship this summer. Currently sitting fourth in the league, Exeter is eager to secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2021. They face a crucial matchup against third-placed Leicester before hosting fifth-placed Saracens in their final two regular-season games. Sio expressed his aspirations, stating, "You always want to achieve great things at clubs and win trophies. I’d be ecstatic if we could push forward and have a big win at Twickenham in three weeks' time." Since his arrival, Sio has made 82 appearances for Exeter, providing veteran leadership during a tumultuous period for the club, which included a disappointing ninth-place finish last season. This year holds special significance for him, as it could mark the beginning of a playoff journey. Reflecting on his time, Sio remarked, "I came over in October 2022 with an open mind to just improve as a player and a person. The club has really just given me a great environment to do that." Off the pitch, Sio has also experienced personal milestones, including an upcoming wedding and the birth of his son. His director of rugby, Rob Baxter, praised Sio’s contributions, hoping for a successful conclusion to his tenure at the club, stating, "I’d love it if you were here at a time when you feel like we’ve had a really successful season."
