Exciting New Fixtures Unveiled for 2026-27 United Rugby Championship Season
The United Rugby Championship (URC) has announced the fixtures for the 2026-27 season, marking the earliest release in history, 129 days prior to the tournament's kickoff on Friday, 25 September. This proactive approach aims to enhance balance in the competition by spreading home and away fixtures more evenly. Key highlights of the upcoming season include: Each South African team will embark on three two-game URC tours. The top eight teams will still qualify for the playoffs, culminating in the Grand Final scheduled for Saturday, 19 June. URC chief executive Martin Anayi emphasized the significance of this early publication, stating, "Publishing our fixtures earlier than ever before is a major achievement and an important step for our clubs, supporters, broadcasters and venues." For the Ospreys, the season will commence with three away games, including a two-match tour to South Africa facing the Sharks and Lions. They will host their first home league match at the newly redeveloped St Helen's stadium in Swansea against the Dragons on Saturday, 24 October. The opening round of fixtures will span Ireland, Italy, South Africa, and Wales, with Glasgow and Edinburgh facing Munster and Ulster away, respectively. Additionally, a notable Welsh derby will kick off the season with the Scarlets battling Cardiff in Llanelli on Saturday, 26 September.
